Traveling to Bora Bora during COVID

When you think of traveling to Bora Bora, it most likely conjures up images of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But what does that look like while we are still fighting through this pandemic?

Many people in the U.S. are already vaccinated with many more continuing to be vaccinated every day. With that being said, resorts are still keeping precautions in place so that you can have the experience of your life.

Bora Bora requires certain travel testing and reporting requirements. All of our travel advisors are fully informed and will make sure you meet all of the requirements before helping you plan your trip.

Resorts have plenty of masks, sanitizer dispensers, and distancing markers located throughout all of their facilities. All beach equipment is disinfected after each use and staff wears masks at all times. Thinking about snorkeling? Resorts are offering complimentary masks and snorkels throughout your stay. In restaurants, you’ll also see that tables are widely spaced while offering outdoor seating as well.

With all these precautions in place, there is no reason to let this pandemic stand in the way of your trip!

Best Time to Travel to Bora Bora

Bora Bora offers warm, tropical weather all year round but they do experience periods of heavy rain. Tourism is at its peak between the months of May through October. Want to avoid the high season? It’s suggested that you visit just before April or right after November.

Visiting during mid-December can save you some money as costs are lower. However, during that time you may experience quite a bit of rain.

Must-See Places When You Are Visiting Bora Bora

Bora Bora is best known for their sandy beaches but the mainland has only one true sandy stretch. Matira Beach is located on the southern tip of the island and is loved by the locals.

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the culture, this is a place you’ll want to visit!

There are also numerous areas with breathtaking coral reefs and gardens. The best way to experience these is through a snorkeling tour. Many hotels also have their own coral reef rehabilitation programs that visitors can be a part of.

Looking for supermarkets, souvenir and jewelry shops?  You will find that and more in Bora Bora’s capital, Vaitape. There are many popular restaurants and bars here as well, such as Restaurant St. James, Mai Kai Marina Yacht Club, and Aloe Café.

Want to experience the culture and landscape without having to get wet? Consider taking a jeep tour that circumvents the island and goes up the mountain for breathtaking views and cultural stops along the way.

So now that you know things to take into account when planning a trip to Bora Bora, let’s get it on the books! Bora Bora is a popular destination for many and once you visit you’ll truly understand why!
