There are so many things to do and prepare for when you’re heading on a vacation to Walt Disney World. We are here to help you take the stress out of it all!
We pulled together our best tips for what you need to pack and prepare for on your magical trip.
Weather
The weather in Central Florida can be so unpredictable and wet. Random 2pm downpour? It happens a lot. To prepare for this make sure you bring a water resistant outer layer. We also suggest a change of clothes for everyone in your group (don’t forget extra socks!).
It also is often sunny, so a reef friendly sunscreen should always be in your to go bag. It is the absolute worst to get sunburn on the first day and then have to suffer for the rest of your trip. The humidity makes your skin wet and that leads to protectants washing away – reapply, reapply, reapply!
Cooling items can be extremely helpful if you are going in the hottest months. We love a neck or handheld fan to help the breeze flow. Make sure these are cordless or battery powered.
A pair of sunnies for everyone is a great option too! The sun is bright and no one wants to miss a second of the magic because they are squinting.
Backpack in the Parks
A bag is entirely essential for the long days in the parks. We suggest a backpack to keep your hands and other body parts free. You would be surprised by how many “little” things you need to bring along and gather throughout the day. The trek back to your hotel cuts into the fun time and can put a damper on ride plans. Below are some items we suggest you always carry with you in the parks.
- Hand Sanitizer
- Refillable water bottle
- Rain jacket/poncho
- Extra socks
- Medications (Anti-inflammatory, pain relievers, anti-nausea, anti-histamines)
- Phone charger cables and portable battery
- Ziplock bags (to keep your phone dry on water rides or with rain)
- Band-aids
- Sunscreen (Face stick, lotion, spray)
- Cooling device (Neck fan, misting bottle, hand-held fan)
- Sunglasses
- Tissues or napkins
- Snacks
- Lip balm with SPF
Entertainment
This one may sound a little silly because you are surrounded by so much to see and do. You have to remember though, that you are often waiting in a queue for rides and kiddos DO NOT have a ton of patience yet (heck even many adults have trouble waiting). Any small and light distraction items are ideal for the inevitable waiting that you will do.
Do Not Forget
We have covered many of the items we suggest for a Disney trip, but these below items are a MUST for any trip and you cannot forget them.
- Travel documents
- Wallet (and everything needed inside)
- Tickets
- Cell phone and extra charger
- Comfortable shoes
- Backpack
- Extra bag
