Disney Cruise Line is different from others. It caters to all ages and especially families.
The staterooms are some of the largest in the industry with storage for luggage under the queen bed. Disney Characters make appearances throughout the ship and on Castaway Cay for guests to meet and get photos.
Super Kid Friendly!
There are age specific kids clubs that the kids make friends at and they don’t want to leave. Little ones love Nemo’s Reef splash area. My 3-year-old granddaughter spent hours there! She loved swimming in the Mickey pool too.
November 29, 2021 my daughter, my daughter-in-law, my granddaughter, and I sailed on a 4-Night Bahamas Merrytime Christmas Cruise on Disney Dream. This was my daughter-in-law’s and granddaughter’s first cruise.
Stateroom & Cruise Itinerary
We were in stateroom 8538. This is a 5B Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. The only difference between this room and the 4C that we had was that there was not a wall pull-down bed so it sleeps up to 4 guests. This itinerary was a round trip from Port Canaveral with a stop at Nassau, Bahamas, a stop at Castaway Cay, and a day at sea.
Christmas decorations were throughout the ship. A beautiful Christmas tree was in the lobby. Castaway Cay had a huge Christmas tree and sandwoman as you got off the ship. Caribbean Christmas music was playing and I loved every minute of it! There were opportunities for guests to sit with Mrs. Claus for story time. This was such a great cruise to kick off the Christmas season!
Castaway Cay
I’ve already mentioned Castaway Cay a few times, but let me tell you more about it. This is Disney’s private island and it is my family’s favorite stop! In fact, my mother was disappointed that we were not making two stops there on this, her second cruise. The waters are crystal clear blue. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas.
Serenity Bay is an adult only beach on one side of the island. It’s so relaxing and quiet. A barbecue lunch is served at three different locations of the island with one of the locations being at Serenity Bay. Caribbean music plays throughout and wait staff walk the beaches taking drink orders and delivering them. There are free flowing sodas and soft serve ice cream. Guests can rent bicycles to ride the trail, snorkel gear, floats for the water, and more. Hair braiding is available for a fee. In Da Shade is a game area with a pool, yard checkers, ping pong tables and more. My granddaughter loved playing in the sand and running into the water. There is something for everyone at Castaway Cay!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
I booked an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for my granddaughter to pick out a dress, shoes, and get a makeover. She chose Cinderella’s dress. The Fairy Godmother’s In Training were fabulous with her. They definitely made her to be the princess she is with a tiara and wand. The wand was her favorite part! It was an expensive day, but entirely worth it to watch my granddaughter having so much fun. I ended up with some great photos of her on the grand staircase and had them made into canvas prints when we got home.
As you can see, Disney Cruise Line is perfect for all ages. My mother said she would never go on a cruise, but once I finally got her to go she loved it and doesn’t even want to try another cruise line.
