I recently had the pleasure of sailing on the Disney Wish and I wanted to share some of my experience with you all.
She is an absolutely stunning ship with some really great amenities.
Royal Entrance
When you enter the atrium you will be greeted by a Cinderella statue and some absolutely stunning decor. See if you can spot what the chandelier represents (hint: think magic and dress!). If you’re lucky, you may even be greeted by a princess. Hi, Belle!
There are fairytale touches everywhere including this beautiful Cinderella mosaic.
Accommodations
I stayed in a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah and I couldn’t believe how spacious it was! These rooms sleep up to 5 people. There is a split bath with a sink and toilet in one and a sink and shower/tub in the other. This is quite handy when someone is getting washed up and someone else needs to use the toilet.
Each room on this ship has a different theme. I lucked out and got a Cinderella themed room. My absolute favorite! There are beautiful little details for each theme such as a painted headboard.
Lounging Around
One of my favorite places to walk by was The Bayou Lounge. It features this beautiful corner booth where you can enjoy some beignets! Fun activities are hosted here during the day and in the evening there is live music and more. And of course there is a bar for all your refreshment needs.
There are so many lounges and bars onboard for you to enjoy, including the Star Wars themed Hyperspace Lounge.
Dining
When it comes to dining, there are 3 main dining rooms. 1923 features artwork and displays from Disney’s films, Worlds of Marvel is of course a Marvel themed dining room with a fun interactive show (and you even get a visit from Spiderman!), and the Arendelle: a Frozen Adventure dining room whisks you away to Arendelle and a fun live show featuring several Frozen characters.
Disney Cruise Line features rotational dining so you get to experience each dining room at least once on your cruise. I was on a 4 night cruise and we were assigned the Marvel dining twice. So the first night we had the full show and the 2nd night they showed really cool Marvel concept art on the screens during dinner.
We had the most wonderful, attentive servers, and I miss them already!
Ride at Sea
This ship features a first-ever attraction at sea! It was so fun! There is a cartoon played as you start the ride and then you experience a fun water slide.
Activities Onboard
We participated in some fun activities such as bingo, “how to draw” sessions, trivia games, and even made our own buttons. There are so many fun things to do each day! Out of all these activities, only bingo had an additional cost.
There are two movie theaters onboard, the Wonderland Cinema (Alice in Wonderland themed) and the Neverland Cinema (Peter Pan themed). Each of them have really neat details, such as these Tinkerbell lights that are on the walls of the Neverland Cinema. It’s free to watch the movies and there are snacks and drinks available for purchase.
Character Interaction
Of course one of my favorite things to do onboard is hug those Disney characters! Characters meet continuously throughout the cruise. Simply check the app for places and times each day and line up a few minutes before they are scheduled to arrive.
Castaway Cay
Of course the highlight of the cruise was the stop at Disney’s own private island, Castaway Cay. My husband and I enjoyed the adults only beach (Serenity Bay) and the barbecue!
Every Disney Caribbean cruise has a Pirate Night that features a live show on the pool deck and ends with a fireworks display. Beware, Matey! If you don’t dress like a pirate that night, your server will make you napkin pirate hats. So fun!
Before we knew it, it was time to say goodbye to this beautiful ship and all our friends we made onboard. We were so sad to leave, but never fear, we purchased a placeholder which allows us to receive 10% off our next Disney cruise in the next 2 years! Your Journey Planner would be happy to give you information on how that works before you sail so you don’t miss out.
