As we ring in a new year, we look ahead to travel trends. Travelers are doing things a little differently this coming year. Whether it stemmed from more countries opening and lifting their COVID restrictions or prices shifting on certain types of travel, people are getting out and traveling!
Record number of trips have been planned, not just from our agency, but across the United States – and travel isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
As our owner, Kristi Peek, said in an article with Travel Weekly in October 2022, after people lost the chance to travel, they are not backing down. The memory of lockdown is still too fresh and people do not want to go back.
Let’s talk about where folks are traveling in 2023 and then we’ll cover the types of travel and other trending topics related to travel!
Where to go in 2023
- Italy
- Japan
- New Zealand
- British Columbia, Canada
- Croatia
- California Coast

Travel Trends in 2023
- Solo Travel – more people are exploring the world alone. There are some incredible deals for solo travelers, if you know where to look. Additionally, this places into the travel trend of wellness travel. Going on a wellness retreat or taking care of your mind and body often requires alone time.
- Traveling to Connect – Whether that’s to connect with others by traveling together or with someone across the globe, people are traveling to make connections. Even moreso, people are traveling to get to know themselves. Maybe it’s researching their ancestors or challenging themselves to grow, people are getting out there and making those important connections.
- Remote work – People are traveling again for work, but not always because of a conference or meeting. More people are taking the opportunity to live temporarily in a dream destination and work remotely so they can explore when they’re off the clock.
- Loving Mother Earth – A lot of travelers are really concerned about taking care of the earth when they travel. Being conscious of conservation practices or how companies reduce their carbon footprint is something many travelers are working to understand. Additionally, travel to national parks and to do outdoor activities will be increasing this year.
